Ego Death (August, 2022)

Kailani studied abroad in Berlin for five years to perfect her ice skating skills to return to her home in the midwestern suburbs of the United States. She is suddenly re-immersed in the isolated neighborhoods with cookie-cutter houses that no longer feel real. Not only that, but a part of herself that she thought she left behind has manifested into a person and plans on taking her place. The horrific narrative of having a doppelganger is meant to symbolize gendered expectations that trans people often face throughout their lives.
